World Travel & Tourism Council issues Global Safety Stamp to Recognize Safe Travels Protocols

WTTC members, alongside governments, health experts, and other industry associations are working together to achieve effective recovery protocols by developing meaningful action plans that optimize sector-wide recovery efforts for the travel industry.

Safe Travels iconThe specially designed stamp will allow travelers to recognize governments and companies around the world which have adopted health and hygiene global standardized protocols – so consumers can experience ‘Safe Travels’.

Eligible companies such as hotels, restaurants, airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, attractions, short term rentals, car rentals, outdoor shopping, transportation, and airports will be able to use the stamp once the health and hygiene protocols, outlined by WTTC, have been implemented.

Did COVID-19 create a demand for travel agents? (AARP)

Many tourists said advisors helped them to get home safely and receive refunds. Many advisors, and their clients, now say the pandemic has helped proved their worth.

“When you work with a travel adviser, you have an advocate who’s watching everything for you and can move the pieces of an itinerary around as necessary,” says Erika Richter, a spokeswoman for the American Society of Travel Advisors, an industry association. “It’s about protecting their investment. Think about your travel portfolio as a financial portfolio. Don’t you want to work with an expert to advise you?”

Travel advisers also understand the lay of the land, saving time and hassle, whether it’s picking a less sprawling airport at which to route a connection or knowing when to reserve an activity.   Travelers say a travel advisor gives them peace of mind and a phone number to call when things go wrong, whether it’s a pandemic causing a global shutdown or an ordinary flight cancellation or lost passport.
